Those of you who have followed us over the years will have seen many of these pictures, but it’s always a good reminder even for us that we’ve worked so hard to become what we’ve become. There have been no short cuts, just good old fashioned long hours and dedication.

I started out by testing items for my own enjoyment. Batteries, inverters, chargers, solar panels and everything else that goes with them. This has been a hobby of mine for as long as I remember, and still is even though it’s now my work.

The first battery that PowerPaul ever built was assembled on a typical old style caravan fold up card table. While I don’t recommend that (it’s not strong at all) it did the job, and it fuelled an unknown thirst for things to come.

After that the Scout was developed and became THE product. It’s still a staple and our biggest seller, with a heritage that has lasted the test of time. It has grown both inside and out, and is now in thousands of
vehicles across the country.

Fast forward a few months and there were benches set up with dedicated areas for specific tasks. Components had to be organised for easy access and to know what we had at a glance.

Move forward another year and we had double the staff and the entire room was engulfed with industrial racking to host the in-house designed testing stations and storage/assembly areas. This was quickly found to be not enough, so other rooms in the house, plus pergola and garage were seconded to act as more work space.

In 2023 we bit the bullet after struggling to ignore the inefficiencies of the tight work space for far too long. We purchased a modern factory as a blank slate. This upgrade was a massive investment, but has paid off with work efficiencies and better conditions far beyond our expectations.

As well as that it gives us storage space to purchase bigger quantities for better pricing. Access for deliveries and pick-ups is superb. New courier contracts and better buying power have managed to drop our supply prices and provide better supply consistency and quality.

We continue to thrive on the endless development and refinement of our processes. While the majority of our products are assembled by hand right here in Melbourne, we now have capable and reliable suppliers of various small components to ensure our efficiency and reliability is the highest it’s ever been.

This story will be continued as we add more products to our line. With just eight batteries on our product list and several custom accessories, we’re still the only company that has not branched out to providing a host of other add-on components. We prefer to specialise in what we are best at, building batteries to the highest quality possible.

Stay tuned for what’s coming… it’s in motion and kinda big!

That’s a great journey and hats off to anyone who has a go, I have a Scout and couldn’t be happier
That’s a great read. Hard to find dedication and commitment like that these days. I hope you stick to what you are obviously good at. Your customers are obviously very happy. I don’t see any bad reviews around. My caravan is a little long in the tooth for such an upgrade, Plus the AGM’S are still working fine. But hey you never know what’s around the corner.
