Many of you have noticed, like we have, the changing style/vibe of Facebook over the past few years in particular. It’s been gradual but we normally see these changes when they manifest in particularly negative ways, after all, Facebook feeds off negativity.

This is more often than not seen as people no longer being helpful, and turning more to smart-ass comments and nit-picking, instead of offering genuine advice based on experience or qualifications. Opinions are thrown about like confetti even when the OP isn’t asking for an opinion, and everyone feels entitled to comment regardless of if they have knowledge or real experience. Fake accounts are rife and people put on any persona they wish with seemingly no consequence regarding harm they may cause others. Bias towards or against brands or products is often undisclosed, which is deceptive to the public.
It means we’re needing to filter replies to posts so much, that we are left with an uncertainty level of the facts that’s unacceptable and unhelpful. While there are many examples of good advice, there are just as many of bad advice, and it’s not a productive environment. It takes considerable time to discern between the two, causes conflict (which Facebook thrives on), and means group/page admin’s are loaded up with moderator tasks that should be done by the public conscience. The people posting the negative things, are more often than not those who have nothing better to do (i.e. unemployed/unskilled), and the people who have good advice, are out there working hard and enjoying life so they are less likely to comment.
PowerPaul has been gradually stepping back from Facebook for some time now. It’s a challenge because a large portion of our customers are based on Facebook, but with the website now stacked with info, and growing all the time (we will put some more effort into that soon), it covers a lot of the necessary tasks. Another challenge is to adapt our posting style, because cut’n’paste often doesn’t suit other platforms.

We’re also beginning a presence on LinkedIn, it’s in its infancy so bear with us while we spin it up. LinkedIn is more like Facebook was a decade ago, where people could go for genuine good information and responses from individuals and businesses that are qualified to respond. There’s less advertising, and we’re not bombarded with the trash that Facebook feeds us daily. People are less likely to have fake accounts and they take some pride in their online reputation.

While our presence on Facebook may be smaller, we’re still growing outside of Facebook in the “Real World” where it counts. 2024 was about stability and setting up the factory for a solid future, and we achieved that. 2025 will be about further development of the business and the products, and this is all backed by the past 4 years of spectacular support to and from our happy customers (more than 1100 of them). With over 3000 batteries produced in this time, it’s not an accident that we have a loyal following due to the quality, consistency, reliability, and backup support, all while keeping a competitive price. While there’s a lot more market competition than 4 years ago, we rarely see brands that have maintained such a reputation for an extended period of time, and this is what we focus on here.

When running a business you must be able to adapt when necessary, to stay ahead but more importantly you need to be able to recognise this before it is required and in my humble opinion PowerPaul is obviously more than capable of doing that.
Thanks for the update and look forward to what surprises you bring us this year . Happy New Year and Happy Australia day to all. Cheers
